Materials used were simple and cost effective; all used in unusual ways to highlight their natural qualities.
The site is a small 6.5m wide block in the inner city of Melbourne. A number of similar single storey terraces line the street and surround the property.
The brief was to renovate the existing kitchen and bathrooms and improve access to natural light in the main living areas. The existing Victorian southern end of the house containing 2 bedrooms was to remain as is.
While building footprint remained the same, the roof structure and associated wall heights were modified to suit the new roof design to capture natural light.
